About the Links to Your Right

Several links to helpful websites are posted to your right. Here is a brief overview of what each one is about and why it was posted.

A Modern Perspective: Oasis of the Seas. Oasis of the Seas is the newest ship in the Royal Caribbean line and was launched this fall. Her sister ship, Allure of the Seas, will be launched in November, 2010. Oasis of the Seas is five times the size of the Titanic and is the largest luxury cruise ship in the world. Its amenities are quite luxurious, just as the Titanic's amenities were in her day. As you look through the photos, what impresses you most? How would a first class passenger view the amenities? How would a third class passenger? Try to relate to the grandeur of this ship.

Artifacts - You will need to register an email address to view this site but no other identifying information is required. Use your first name and last initial if you don't want to register your name. On this site, RMS Titanic, are actual photographs of items recovered from the ship. (Click on Artifacts and use the drop-down menu to view jewelry, papers, coins, etc.) As you look at each item, try to think of what it represented to its owner. What objects in your life are important to you? What objects are important to your character? If you find that a prop could be useful or meaningful to your character, let us know and we'll do our best to get that prop for you!

Encyclopedia Titanica - Everything you want to know about the ship and especially all of her passengers, you can find on this site. You will be responsible for using this site to learn autobiographical information about your character. If you're in the chorus, you will use this site to select a character. More on that following casting.

National Geographic/Sixty Minutes and The History Channel - these are the sites to learn factual information about the Titanic and her underseas resting place. The Titanic was discovered by Dr. Robert Ballard in 1985. Recently he has disclosed that he was given money to find the Titanic if he agreed to two classified dives for the U.S. Navy. Since those missions became declassified, he has explained more about them. You can view underwater photos and learn about exploration of the ocean and shipwreck recovery at any of these sites.

Titanic on Broadway - information regarding the 1997 Tony Award winning production of this musical. Background notes on its creative team, cast, etc. This musical was written before the movie and is nothing like it... except for, well you know.

Twenty-One Accents - Exhaustive searching on Youtube yielded very little in the way of quality dialect coaching, but Ms. Diozzi highly recommends YouTube videos by Amy Walker. Ms. Walker's dialects are spot-on and she is a very talented actor. Check out the "21 Accents" video and any others you find of hers. She is on YouTube as "amiable walker."
